Memo to Extraordinary (Eucharistic) Ministers, Lectors, Altar Servers, Choir Members, Celebrants
Rita has been in contact with Power Sound of New England to find out what is causing the occasional interference with the sound system during Mass. Power Sound is the company that installed and maintains our sound system which was completely redone several years ago during the church renovations. It is the opinion of Power Sound that the interference is caused by incoming cell phone messages. Power Sound has recommended that anyone who is present in the sanctuary area during Mass, and thus is close to the microphones, needs to turn his cell phone fully off during Mass. Placing the cell phone in the vibrate mode will not work. Once again, the phone should be OFF. If everyone cooperates with turning his cell phone off, we should be able to determine rather quickly if this is the reason for the interference.
Call for Singers
Summer is a great time to find out more about the music program at Sts. Martha and Mary, especially if you are new to the parish. We have an adult choir of over twenty singers which sings at the 11:00 A.M. Mass from October through May. Our parish children's choir of over thirty sings once a month at the 9:00 A.M. Mass from October through May. Both groups sing at Christmas and Easter. Rita and I are available after the three parish music Masses for more informationThe Best Day of My Life
Gregory M Lousignont
Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life, ever! There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today; but I did! And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make me stronger.
I will go through this day with my head held high, and a happy heart. I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts: the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the flowers, the birds. Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice.
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people. I'll make someone smile. I'll go out of my way to perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.
Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for her and how much she means to me.
Today is the day I quit worrying about what I
don't have and start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already
given me.
I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in God and
his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.
And tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens. I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon, and I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.
As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow, I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life. And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child, excited with expectation because know tomorrow is going to be the best day of my life, ever!

U THOUGHTS ON THE LITURGY U
The major religions all warn against greed and the seductions of wealth. Yet overestimating the importance of money is a universal failing. Because of the high value we place on money, we keep what we’ve made and reach for more. This is the real evil of money, it promotes acquisitiveness and selfishness.
Ecclesiastes contains wisdom on the human condition. The writer mocks the person who works all his life to accumulate a fortune that gets passed onto someone who hasn’t worked at all. It would have been far better if the man had been generous with his wealth during his lifetime.
St. Paul thought it was inappropriate for a Christian to be preoccupied with worldly things. Becoming a Christian means setting aside the old material interests in favor of spiritual values. The Christian is a new person.
Jesus warned against greed, because money does not bring happiness. Jesus told a parable of a man so dedicated to amassing wealth that he died as he was tearing down his barns to build bigger ones. It all became useless to him when he died.
The proverb “All that glitters is not gold” has been applied to everything but money. We are suspicious of deals that are too good to be true. We are philosophical about relationships that fall shore of perfection. We take consolation is discovering that we’ve been misled. But we seldom question the glitter that surrounds wealth even though we have ample evidence that money can’t buy happiness.
The solution to greed is not poverty. The poor may be even greedier for money than the rich. The solution to greed is gratitude and generosity. Let us pray for the strength to share our possessions with those in need.
