THE YEAR OF THE PRIEST
Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed June 19th 2009-June 18th 2010 as the year of the priest. He is asking all of us to pray for those who are priest and those who are preparing for ordination and those considering priesthood. This year coincides with the 150th anniversary of the death of the Cure of Ars, the patron saint of priests. At the doors of the Church you will find prayer cards with a picture of the Cure and a special prayer on the back for priests. Please take one and pray the prayer often during the year.

U THOUGHTS ON THE LITURGY U
We often express gratitude for our faith; today’s readings invite us to reflect on how profoundly that faith influences our view of the world, our actions, and our selves.
Creation is holy, the Wisdom writer suggests –“wholesome.” And we made in God’s own image, are infused with the divine. We are in constant relationship with a God of wonder who transforms us, heals us, turning our “mourning into dancing.” “Do not be afraid, just have faith,” says Jesus to anxious father. A woman isolated through illness hears, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” Faith, Jesus says, is everything: it allows the seemingly impossible.
Holiness, Relationship, Healing, Transformation. All seem connected in the vision of faith fashioned in today’s readings. A faith grounded in beauty and wonder challenges us to treat the earth and each other as precious. A faith enlivened by the Holy Spirit invites our participation in the mission of Jesus, of God who embraced out humanity.
With Jesus, we are invited to build the kingdom through loving encounter. Faith invites us to consider possibilities to act in hope affirming the holy, the wondrous; to commit to the seemingly impossible as agents of transformation in our time and place.
At the heart of our faith we meet a God who urges us to recognize the holiness that is, while working toward what might be.
